National Aboriginal Day June 21st

We are preparing to celebrate National Aboriginal Day with some First Nations story-telling, bannock eating, bracelet weaving and game playing.  We are going to share some of the fun on June 21 through our class twitter account @ClassElie.  Stay tuned!  We were also fortunate to receive some resources from the department of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada.

Here is a photo of one of the baked blueberry bannocks Mrs. Elie made.

Mrs. Elie has made a lot of bannock.  When she was in grade 4, 5 and 6, her school used to celebrate Festival de Voyageur.   Students used to fry bannock in electric frying pans throughout the school.  Mrs. Elie also learned how to bake bannock from her mom, Lynne Maller, a third generation baker.  Lynne received teachings from first nations people in The Pas and Northern BC.
